What are the types of Geomembrane

When it comes to the classification of geomembranes, it may be more complicated for customers unfamiliar with them. In fact, there are various classifications of geomembrane, which can be classified separately from geomembrane meaning, geomembrane definition, geomembrane material, geomembrane manufacturers, geomembrane uses, geomembrane properties, geomembrane surface.

Geomembrane Types

1.Geomembrane types—geomembrane material

Based on the material, the geomembrane can be sorted into two types: HDPE geomembrane and LLDPE geomembrane. These are excellent construction polymer chemical flexible materials because they all have the good properties of high tensile strength, small specific gravity,  high adaptability to deformation, chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, low-temperature resistance, and good frost resistance.

HDPE Geomembrane
HDPE Geomembrane

HDPE geomembrane, whose original material is high-density polyethylene, the main component is 97.5% polyethylene,2.5% carbon black, including anti-aging agent, antioxidant, ultraviolet absorber, stabilizer, and other additives, which can be made of advanced many layer co-extrusion blow molding process or multi-head flat extrusion process.HDPE geomembrane has excellent resistance to chemical (acid and alkali), UV resistance, strength, durability, and stress tear resistance, non-toxic and odorless, with a density in the range of 0.940~0.976 g/cm3. It has good chemical stability, high rigidity and toughness, and good mechanical strength. It has excellent resistance to environmental stress cracking, low-temperature resistance, aging resistance, and corrosion resistance, as well as a larger temperature range (-70–+70), Also it has a long service life which can be reached to 70 years. It can be used in domestic waste landfills. Anti-seepage of the field, anti-seepage of the solid waste landfill, anti-seepage of the sewage treatment plant, anti-seepage of an artificial lake, and anti-seepage engineering of tailings treatment.

LLDPE Geomembrane

LLDPE geomembrane, LLDPE geomembrane is made of low-density polyethylene. LLDPE products are non-toxic, tasteless and odorless, more flexible. Compared with other geomembranes, it has the better property of high strength, good toughness, great range temperature adapt, cold or heats resistance, etc. It also has good resistance to environmental stress cracking, tear resistance, and resistance to acids, alkalis, organic solvents, etc.

2.Geomembrane types—geomembrane surface

Based on the surface of the geomembrane, the Geomembrane can be sorted into the following types :

Double smooth surface geomembrane, which can be applied to project with low friction need, such as the project

Single-side rough geomembrane increases the coefficient of friction, anti-skid function, is more suitable for steep slopes and vertical seepage prevention, and improves engineering stability. The single-rough geomembrane is a geomembrane with a rough side and a smooth side. The rough side of the geomembrane is often in contact with the geotextile in the construction of slope anti-seepage engineering, so on to achieve the anti-slip effect.

Smooth and Rough Geomembrane

Double rough geomembrane which has the excellent property of anti-skid, great coefficient of friction, anti-skid function. The double rough surface geomembrane has a wide range of uses. The double rough surface geomembrane can be in contact with the geotextile on both sides in the construction of the slope project to achieve the anti-slip effect.

3.Geomembrane types—geomembrane uses

Geomembrane can be divided into aquaculture geomembrane (fish pond geomembrane, shrimp pond geomembrane), engineering geomembrane (landfill, biogas tank, water treatment) and other uses according to its purpose.

geomembrane uses

Shandong Dajin is a professional manufacturer and installation service provider of HDPE Geomembrane with more than 15 years.HDPE Geomembrane can meet the international standard ASTM GRI-GM13. Also, we have obtained the certificates of CE, ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO45001.
