How to weld geomembrane

1. The welding of geomembrane uses a dual-drive self-propelled geomembrane welding machine, which adopts dual-track hot-melt welding. For parts that cannot be welded by the welder, an extrusion hot-melt welder should be used with an electrode of the same quality as the raw material to form a single weld seam for surfacing; the welding process of the welder is divided into adjusting pressure, setting temperature, and setting Speed, welding seam lap inspection, film loading into the machine, starting the motor; there should be no oil or dust at the joints, and there should be no debris, condensation, moisture, and other debris on the lap surface of the geomembrane. When there is debris It must be cleaned up before welding; at the beginning of each day, a test piece of 0.9mm X 0.3mm should be tested on-site, with a lap width of not less than 10cm, and peel and shear tests should be carried out on site. After the sample is qualified, You can use the adjusted speed, pressure, and temperature to perform welding. Omit to weld the geomembrane, the welding machine needs to pay attention to the operation of the welding machine at any time, and fine-tune the speed and temperature according to the actual situation on the site; the welding seam is required to be neat and beautiful, and there should be no slip welding or skipping phenomenon; When the length of the geomembrane is not enough, it needs to be spliced in the long direction. The transverse welds should be welded first, and then the longitudinal welds. The distance between the transverse welds is greater than 50cm.

2. It should be in a T shape and not cross; when welding the geomembrane, it is not allowed to press out dead folds. When laying the geomembrane, set aside the amount of expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes according to the local temperature change range and the performance requirements of the geomembrane; Welding cannot be carried out during rain or when there is moisture, dew, or heavy sand in the joints, unless protective measures are taken; when the temperature is lower than 5℃, construction should not be carried out by the requirements of the specification. If construction is necessary, welding should be carried out before welding. The machine is preheated; when the geomembrane is welded, it should be powered by a generator with good voltage-stabilizing performance. In special cases, when local power is used, a voltage stabilizer must be used.

3. Precautions for geomembrane welding

1. The joints of the HDPE geomembrane should be free of oil and dust. The overlap section of the HDPE geomembrane should not be covered with sand or other debris. When there is debris, it must be cleaned up before welding.

2. At the beginning of the welding every day, a test piece of 0.9mm×0.3mm must be welded on-site first, with a lap width of not less than 10cm, and peel and shear tests on-site with a tensile machine. After the sample is qualified, it can be adjusted at that time. Good speed, pressure, and temperature are welding. The date, time, and ambient temperature must be marked on the sample. During the welding process of the hot wedge welding machine, it is necessary to pay attention to the operation of the welding machine at any time and to fine-tune the speed and temperature according to the actual situation on the spot.

3. HDPE geomembrane welding seams are required to be neat, beautiful, and free of slip welding and skipping.

6. When welding the film, no dead bends are allowed. When laying HDPE geomembrane, set aside the amount of expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes according to the local temperature change range and the performance requirements of the HDPE geomembrane.

7. When the temperature of the welder indicated by the temperature control of the portable welder is lower than 200°C, use a clean cloth or cotton yarn to dust off and re-solder. If necessary, re-grind and avoid rubbing with your hands.

8. When the joints of HDPE geomembrane are affected by condensation, moisture, silt, etc., they should be welded after treatment.

9. Welding cannot be carried out during rain or when there is moisture, dew, or heavy sand in the joints unless protective measures are taken.

10. When the temperature is lower than 5°C, construction should not be carried out by the requirements of the specification. If construction is necessary, the welding machine should be preheated before welding.
